4k Blu-ray player won’t play 4K

So I recently bought a 4K blu ray player and it says it’s a UHD 4K player on it and everything, but the thing is is won’t play 4K. I don’t know if I need to do something else for it to play 4K as I’m just a beginner, but please comment and tips.
