Looking for advice after tumor diagnosis

DOG

Hello everyone!

My 6-year-old French Bulldog was recently diagnosed with a low-grade cutaneous mast cell tumor (Patnaik grade I|). The tumor was removed, and the prognosis is considered good, but my primary vet recommended that I consult with an oncologist for further guidance.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through something similar.

What were your next steps after removal of a low-grade mast cell tumor? What questions should I be asking an oncologist? How can I stay on top of this long term?

My vet mentioned that there is a possibility (even if small) of future internal involvement. Is there any way to monitor for that? Like routine bloodwork, ultrasound, imaging, etc.? What is actually recommended versus unnecessary?

I just want to be as informed and proactive as possible for my baby.

Thank you so much in advance for sharing your experiences.
