Personal Statement
Hi everyone, I’m starting to think about my law school personal statement and I feel completely stuck.
I don’t feel like I have any huge, standout life event or dramatic story to write about, which makes me nervous. I’m a strong writer and I really want my statement to be amazing because my GPA isn’t as strong as I’d like. I’m confident I can do well on my LSAT, so I’m hoping my writing can really help balance my application.
For those of you who’ve written successful personal statements:
• What kinds of topics did you write about?
• Does it have to be a major life hardship or unique experience?
• What makes a statement stand out if you don’t have something dramatic to share?
• Are there topics you’d avoid?
I’m especially interested in examples of strong essays that weren’t trauma-based or overly cliché.
Any advice would seriously help — I feel very lost right now.
