Selling covered calls: tax questions

Hello

I am thinking of selling covered calls on my QQQ and VOO holdings.

Curious how the premiums are calculated. Are they considered short term capital gains?

Anyone doing this? Any advice before I do so?

Disclaimer: I understand if there is a massive market rally, my contracts can be executed and I could lose out on the rally.
