Insane idea

Okay, so the main complaint about the iPhone Air is obviously the camera; its not bad at all, but man is it annoying not being able to take pics at 0.5x. After I saw the supposed Air 2 design with 2 lenses, I didn't like it at all, so I spent a few hours for no apparent reason trying to find a different solution: I don't know if ts is technically possible, but hear me out: If it had one camera, but it would be Ultrawide and be 96MP; the 1x pics would look the same, because they would be cropped in pics from a 96MP, resulting in 48MP at 1x + benefiting a 0.5x mode with still great quality. There would be some issues I suppose, but Samsung fakes 2x zoom on their Ultra this way (zooming in on a 200MP 1x and getting a ~100MP 2x)
