Kanye used in my english assignment

Im a sophomore in high school and had to write some inherent journal on a VIP, I decided to choose Kanye as my VIP, not a perfect journal but figured people here might want to see it?? wrote this like a bit ago so some things might be different now. and also my English lowkey sucks a bit so a reduction of harassment about run-ons and whatnot would be appreciated, anyways here it is. (goes from prompt down to what I wrote)

“Think back to the people who have played a role in raising you, shaping you, or teaching you. Select one person and explain their role in your life and how that person contributed to who you are today. This could be anything from teaching you a valuable life lesson, showing you how to do something, to just spending quality time with you. Try to find a memory that really means something special to you.

One person who played a role in my life is Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Ye has a past of saying controversial things, however, at the same time, he also says things that truly mean a lot to me. Ye once said "Nothing in life is promised except death", reflecting on an accident he had in 2002. I stick that quote with me because every time I do something, it attempts to motivate me at trying my best with every opportunity I have, because opportunities are never promised in life. Another one comes from a recent apology he made, near the end, he said, "I'm not asking for sympathy, or a free pass, though I aspire to earn your forgiveness. I write today simply to ask for your patience and understanding as I find my way home." I admire this part of his apology, because while I do not think Ye represents me as a character, I do relate to the last part of his apology, as I was also once in a place myself where I needed to change but did not have the room to grow. Ye played a role in showing me two lessons, to appreciate everything and every opportunity you have in life, and that people can change for the better with the right amount of room and accountability.”
