What to do with energetic cat at night?

i just got my tabby almost 2 months ago. he is a year and a half old. he has a ton of energy. but during the day it's manageable. I am in a small one bedroom apartment. so the doors are open to the living room/bedroom at all times. I have started playing with him before his evening dinner to try and wind down and honestly it works fine for the first half of the night. it's just that eventually he wants to sleep on my neck. or his claws are on my chest, he paws at my face, nudges my face, sleeps on my chest. it's pretty easy for me to go back to sleep after i wake up but it is getting to be a lot trying to keep him from clawing me at night. and i worry that because the doors are typically always open right now, switching to closing the door at night would disrupt him and confuse him. this is my first cat while i've had a dog before, it's definitely wildly different. just not sure how to handle his nighttime aggressive cuddling lol
