EGL Domlur Ghost stories.
Has anyone heard or experienced ghost stories at Embassy Golf Links (EGL), Domlur?
Back in 2015, I joined a company in EGL as a fresher. It was a customer support role, and our training used to happen during night shifts. I’ve always been a rational person and never really believed in ghosts or paranormal stuff. But some incidents during those initial days made me question things.
There were already rumors that certain training blocks had paranormal activity. People claimed they sensed shadows moving in the washroom around midnight. I tried to rationalize it. One night around 12 AM, I went alone to the restroom to see for myself. I noticed there was a vent/opening at the top, and headlights from passing cabs would briefly flash through. I assumed that’s what people mistook for shadows.
But that same week, something happened to another trainee in the adjacent training room. During a midnight break, everyone went out for coffee, but he stayed back alone. A few minutes later, he came running out, visibly shaken. He said someone had pulled his chair and whispered his name in his ear. He was traumatized the entire day, kept saying, “Nobody will believe me.” He genuinely looked disturbed, not like someone joking.
A few days later, something happened that I personally experienced.
Around midnight, 4–5 of us were in the pantry having coffee. We were joking and trying to scare one innocent guy with ghost stories. Suddenly, the pantry lights started flickering. Then we heard what I can only describe as a stereotypical “ghost-like” sound.
That guy panicked and ran. Initially, we laughed, assuming someone played a sound on their phone.
Then we all froze.
Phones were strictly not allowed inside the training area. Security would check everyone at the entrance. None of us had phones.
We all looked at each other and realized nobody had done anything.
Within seconds, we ran back toward our training room. At the same time, other trainees—both guys and girls—came running from the restroom area, equally terrified, saying they experienced something strange. I don’t remember their exact words now, but everyone was shaken.
We refused to go back to that training block for the rest of the night. Eventually, we moved to a room closer to the reception area near the security desk.
Another thing that always added to the eerie feeling was that there was a cemetery very close to the campus. Our office cabs would actually pass right beside it while entering EGL.
I left the company after about two months for unrelated reasons, but this incident has stayed with me for 11 years now.
I’m curious — has anyone else who worked in Embassy Golf Links, especially night shifts or training blocks, experienced anything similar? Or heard stories about that place?
