Feeling worse after cleaning Doom Pile/Depression Room
Has anyone ever felt WORSE after finally conquering their doom pile ? I have been stressing so much this year...planning a wedding I never wanted (I wanted to elope, the responsibility of planning a wedding has cooked me), starting my own business (trying to overcome feeling like a failure and burnout).
These things manifested into a massive doom pile of a bedroom, just a straight up depression room. I couldn't look at it, I couldn't deal with it. The thought of picking up just one tshirt off the floor was absolutely impossible. It was awful.
I know myself pretty well, so I knew if I could get ahead of my own mind I could probably tackle it, so when I woke up Sunday morning, I just jumped out of bed and IMMEDIATELY started cleaning the room around me. I know when I start things, I will continue them obsessively until complete and I had to get this massive thing done before I woke up completely and let my mind talk me out of it with irrationalities.
And I went 200%...ya'll I folded my UNDERWEAR. That's how hard I went.
I thought I would feel so refreshed and FREE. Mentally free of mind clutter.
Nope.
All I apparently did was remove this huge physical barrier that was actually a mental barrier that has let all my unresolved and unacknowledged stress and responsibility come crashing down on my like a literal mountain.
That doom pile was something I could control, something I had placed there to protect me. I have had the shakes, panic and anxiety like I have never had in my life for 4 days straight. My fiance is working in another state this month, I am facing this alone. I actually have my weekly therapy in a few minutes and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it to discuss this and hopefully feel a little better.
Am I alone in this or have others ever experienced it?
