Baby showers

We never had a baby shower for our second boy, but my third pregnancy is a girl and money is also tight so we wanted to have a baby shower where we invite all our family and throw them a BBQ because we already hate receiving gifts as is but obviously it would be so helpful! Curious to know if you think it'd be greedy or if we should forget it? What did you guys do?
