Help with Mexico room minimum

We are planning a wedding for Mexico 2027 at a Dreams resort. My parents have a timeshare with the resort, and most of our guests are my immediate family that will book their rooms with the timeshare. While I know that wouldn't fly for some people, we scratched our local wedding plans and decided to go this route only after my parents bought their timeshare because we knew it would be more affordable specificallyfor them. we are fine paying whatever we have to to make sure they stay within their budget.

Now we are just about ready to sign the contract, and I didn't know there was a room minimum. Our guests WILL be staying there, just not as part of our room block.

So my question is - can we pay extra if we don't have the room minimum? or is there a way that my parents can book and say that their rooms are part of our wedding block? I have a travel agent, but wanted to see what the thoughts are here, as I'm sure part of her commission comes out of the amount of rooms she books, so she isn't super encouraging of the vacation package.
