thoughts on changing the chapter word count?

in the middle of a long-fic with each chapter being about 4k. but i've hit a snag in writing as in a little writer's block/won't be able to update for a while. I have about 2k of the next chapter finished. normally i'd wait, but i did leave the last chapter on a pretty big cliffhanger, and truly it will take me a few months to update again, if not longer (if ever 😬). the 2k will give a somewhat satisfactory end point but is a little abrupt with how it ends so far. thoughts?
