I feel bad for saying this, but I really want a friendly hamster this time around

My robo/dwarf ham passed after a little over two years. I love her and gave her the best life possible, but nothing ever tamed her enough to be friendly with me. I did all the stuff you’re supposed to do, constantly added toilet paper with my scent, played in the cage all the time to get her used to me, fed her snacks in the palm of my hand. Nothing worked, the most affection we ever shared was eating out of the palm of my hand, only if I kept my hand down in her cage too. Definitely couldn’t lift it, couldn’t touch her, etc. she was always jumpy no matter what, even still hissed at me on the rare occasion. I was happy to take care of her, because I don’t think she would have done well with a less educated hamster owner, especially a kid. I don’t think she would have survived near as long. I mean, she hated her cage mate at the pet store, all the other hamsters cuddled at least.

I feel ready to get another hamster. But I really don’t want a recluse again. I want to be able to be friends with this one. Where can I find one? How can I be sure they will be my friend?
