DM Email Notifications?

I know when I used last.fm in the 2010s I got a notification whenever someone sent me a DM.

I am trying to reconnect with someone from back then who was also a user back there. Her friend was a bit more active but also not anymore. I was hoping she could help out, wrote her a DM in hopes she may be seeing a email notification that she got a DM.

However when I tested this out now with another account there was no notification.

Did they get rid of this? Could it be an old option you have to turn on and her friend may still has it active? That was my last straw of reconnecting.
