I am deep in the comp sci skill tree, and I fell in love with DND, so naturally I built software tools over the years to help, and now I am looking for input as I am increasingly discovering how diverse people are about how they run games and what tools and formats we use.
So yeah, i built a web app, called it tavern scribe first as a tool for me because I cannot remember the story building, npcs, and story archs as a player. I tried running a game and wow was it so much to handle all at once... so i made a tool to help run games digitally and online. I think i am getting way too ambitious. and I am not an experienced dm. This is my passion project and before i get ahead of myself and build something that only works for me I want to take a pause and collect feedback from a wider circle of people who know this flow way better than me. As i have read through these posts I am realizing there are some sacred cows in regards to how games are run. I want to make sure I am more aware so i can shape this tool into something everyone can use for their own way of running games. I really like the paper and pencil approach so i made sure that was the default way we could track things in the digital world that was the main thing i wanted on top of recaps of the sessions so my overloaded brain could remember what was happening next time i joined my friends. It also gets me more excited to get into character. so yeahhhh... i know we all hate on ai right now, but i see some really cool potential to make TRPG more accessible to the world. would love to talk about anything. even if it is just hating on AI.
