How do I become an electrician?

Hi this is my first post here but, I’m a senior in High school and I’ve wanted to do electrical work for a long time, I really want to become an electrician and I want to know how you get certified and how I can start working. I hear trade school is an option?? Please tell me if there’s anything else I need to know and also what I may need to expect!
