Am I starting the conflict or is my partner being sensitive?
I’d like an outside perspective please. My partners teenage son was sounding quite loud and (more so than usual) aggressive playing video games and I heard him being a bit mean to his friend. My partner and I were in the lounge and I said to him that I think his sons in a bad mood tonight because of the above. He suddenly snapped at me that he doesn’t want the stress and I said I’m not trying to stress him out it was an observation and he said I’m being stressful and that he’s already said he doesn’t want stress so why can’t I respect him and I said I’m not the bad guy here and he said I am. I then didn’t say anything at all and he got up and stormed out and said fuck you.
?!?
Now we aren’t talking. This is just a recent example, things like this often happen and I’m confused if I’m coming across as triggering in any way. Should I have just submitted to him snapping and said sorry and then shut up?
