Advice for curly/dry hair (I'm desperate)

I hate it I hate it I hate it!!! Yet I don**'**t wanna go bald, no matter how hard I try to style it and make it look somewhat acceptable IT NEVER WORKS, IT NEVER MOVES, it just stares back at me

I usually wash it whenever I feel like it**'s itching (every 2-3 days) and I don't get what I'**m doing wrong!

Should I get other products other than the basic shampoo and conditioner? What do you recommend? What should I avoid?

I just want it to look neat and smell nice that**'s all and I'**ll appreciate it greatly
