maintenance water damaged all of my vinyl records and sound system
Basically just wondering if anyone has dealt with this before and got reimbursement. On Monday I woke up to loud noise of window cleaners hired by management at 930 am and then I realized that water pressure was so high it was blasting through the window seal and pouring onto my entire record collection soaking all 50+ of them and my speakers and receiver. We were alerted by email at 815 am day of, and I’m literally sick af rn with strep and also my windows were 100% closed I live in an industrial loft 2nd floor for context. I ran outside to stop them and told management who came and took a look. All of the record sleeves are ruined making them all valueless and not only are some of these records 50+ years old some you can’t even get anymore. My renters insurance USAA says it’s not covered but management seems to be cooperating and asking for total cost damaged. I’m wondering how do I go about costing out these records since I literally have no receipts since I’ve been collecting over 10 years. I was thinking of sending a google drive of all the records online new and resale for cost replacement. Should I go that route or give them my estimate? The speakers, sound system and records I would estimate is over 3.5k should I try to get really specific? But yeah I’m kinda devastated and was wondering if anyone has had something similar happen and if management actually reimbursed them. 🥲
