Is it weird to reach back out?

Really weird scenario so I figured I’d ask here beforehand. A couple months ago I was talking to a guy from one of the dating apps. We were talking for a couple weeks and trying to plan a date, but I backed out because I had some family stuff going on and I mentally wasn’t doing well. I wished him the best and he seemed to be nice about it. We haven’t talked since, but I was thinking about getting into a hobby that I’ve been wanting to do for years and it’s a hobby that he made a career out of and was gonna reach out and ask about recommendations on starter equipment as I have no idea where to start and don’t know anyone else with experience. We had briefly talked about it when we were talking previously.

Would it be weird of me to reach out? Obviously I’m not entitled to a response, but I don’t want to be weird or overstep. How would you feel in this situation? Has this happened to you? Thanks in advance!
