I Need Suggestions On Where To Move--I Hate Living In Minneapolis
Hi y'all, I'm thinking of moving out of state within the next couple of years to any southern state. I have a couple of reasons why I don't like living in Minneapolis, and what I'm looking for in my next state.
I've lived in Minnesota all of my life, in rural Southern MN, till I moved to Minneapolis a couple years ago. It was a hard transition, but I enjoyed living here at first.
My dislikes about living in Minneapolis, Minnesota:
-Weather: (it's Minnesota. Our weather is so unpredictable and the winters are horrible. I am so tired of driving in the snow and dealing with the weather)
-Politics: I would like to live in a more conservative state
-Crime: Unfortunately, I've been a victim of crime, and I know a lot of people who also have been. It just seems to be getting worse and worse in our city since 2020. Certain areas that used to be OK to be in aren't anymore.
-Driving: Why do we have so many aggressive/dumb drivers here?
-Cost of living: We've always been taxed pretty high, but it seems taxes just keep getting worse, and the cost of living here is insane for a state where it's winter half the year.
I love the amount of great things to do, parks, restaurants, outdoorsy stuff that we have. But that's about it.
What I'm looking for:
-Rural town/suburb 45 minutes-1 hour 30 minutes from a major city (I don't mind commuting)
-Southern state (☀️)
-Relatively lower violent and property crime
-Plenty of state parks, great restaurants, etc
-Availability of jobs
-Lower rent/taxes/cost of living
-Preferably in a lower tornado risk area, but that's kind of a hard ask for a southern state
I visited Guthrie, OK and El Paso, Texas a couple of summers ago, and in particular I loved El Paso. However, I'm open to other states as well! Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me.
