Older Adults: What's Your Biggest Headache with the Internet Today?

Hi r/AgingParents, I’m a University of Chicago student thinking about how older adults experience the internet today, especially around confusing apps, staying in touch with family, and feeling out of the loop.

I’ve noticed that many older adults are highly capable but sometimes feel overwhelmed by how fast online culture, news, and messaging styles change. I’m trying to better understand:

  • What kinds of online situations cause the most confusion?
  • Would you enjoy having an easier way to understand and stay connected with your grandchildren’s online world?
  • Do older adults actually want help, or does it feel intrusive?

If this resonates, I'd love a quick 10-min DM chat here on Reddit (or email if you prefer). Thank you for reading!
