Please don't honk if you need to wait for a stopped vehicle on a residential street

📣📣Rants and Raves📣📣
  • It doesn't make the person whose car is stopped move any faster
  • It aggravates everyone living on the block
  • We live in a society, sometimes you need to wait
  • It is a douchey thing to do, particularly when you lay on the horn for more than 1/4 of a second, don't be a douchenozzle

Today someone died on my block. A body transportation service showed up to remove the body and, because my street is a single lane one way street, and because the house is in the middle of the block, that means they had to block traffic. It is traumatic when someone you love dies and the body has to be removed. It is traumatic for everyone in the surrounding area when a bunch of impatient motorists start blaring their horns, when a FedEx guy gets out of his truck and starts yelling at the family waiting for their loved one to be put on the stretcher and taken to the morgue, when horns are laid on for like 30 seconds without cessation.

I've done a pretty good job as I've gotten older to not get irate about things, but people honking out of impatience when stuck behind someone just doing their job still gets me all Yosemite Sam. Today was by far the worst.

Don't honk. Just wait. Listen to some music.

Don't honk.
