MLB Audio-only doubled in price! Any tips or workarounds?
I love listening to MLB on the radio. I don't have time to sit in front of a screen, but I listen while I'm driving, washing dishes, mowing the lawn, etc. I've been an MLB Gameday Audio subscriber for maybe 20 years. The price started at something like $12 or $15 for the season. By last year, it had gone up to $30. No blackout dates, no nonsense, just all games, all the audio. The only slight issue was that the feed for my team (Red Sox on WEEI) consistently cut off the broadcasters mid-sentence at the end of each inning to go to commercial, and then often missed the first pitch when coming back. I submitted a bug report to MLB audio, but no luck over the past couple of years. Oh well, for $30 a year I could live with it.
This year, Gameday Audio is gone, replaced with something called MLB+. It includes something called MLB Network, which I don't care about. The new price is $60, without changing or improving ANYTHING! Yikes.
I'm looking for tips and tricks to save a few bucks on my audio-only subscription. So far, the best I've been able to figure out is that I could pay monthly from March 25 through October 24, just six months, for $6/month, or $36 total if I remember to cancel on time. If my team is in the World Series in late October, I'll be happy to pay another $6 to listen.
Anyone else have any better ideas?
