So one of the most interesting topics in the Winx Club fandom has long been the debate about Daphne’s age, the timeline of Domino destruction, and the aging of the members of the Company of Light. These all prove to be plot holes that have kept the fandom confused for years and I think it all stems from the fact that Daphne is Bloom’s sister, and the writers trying to add on some info about Oritel and Marion way too late into Bloom’s story that contradict certain plot points mentioned earlier. As such, there’s been a theory going around that Daphne was originally written to be Bloom’s mother and I do think this is the case. Buckle up cause this is kinda long. This also my first ever post in the sub so I might've overlooked some stuff. My proof:

   1. **Age Gap -** Now obviously siblings can have a massive age gap (in fact I myself am a product of this with my eldest brother being 17 years older than me) but unlike in real life where things are more accidental, these things are more deliberate in fiction as writers have to go out of their way to make these decisions. You’d think then, it would be a plot point for Bloom to at least mention to Daphne their age gap and ask why their parents waited so long to have another child (unless you want the hilarity of her not wanting to ask thinking she might’ve been a surprise/accident.) Even if you said “Well Daphne had to be old enough and powerful enough to send her to Earth” but why couldn’t her mother, Marion, be the one to do this? We know she was able to combat the ancestral witches so surely opening a portal to Earth should be a piece of cake for her? It's almost like she wasn’t a planned character and was just added later on.
1. 2. **Daphne’s Age and Role** \- Daphne is the Crown Princess of Domino, Bloom’s older sister who sacrificed herself to save Bloom. But something isn’t lining up or making any sense. In ep 9, Bloom is going to read about Daphne and finds a book saying "Daphne, one of the Nine Nymphs of Magix. The Supreme fairies who **ruled** over the Magic Dimension during the **eons** following the Dragon’s disappearance.” To me, the fact that she’s referred to as a ruler, makes it seem like they planned on her being Domino’s Queen, not just its princess. Not only this, but the fact that the Nymphs supposedly ruled for eons, like immortal goddesses would explain why they have a temple in Magix City. Bloom says to Sky “And you know the temple in the main square? The Nine Nymphs are sculpted on the facade, the middle nymph, that’s Daphne.” If the Nymphs were godlike fairies who ruled the planets it would make sense why the people of the Magic Dimension might’ve at one point worshiped them. Heck, in that rose day episode we literally see a character dress up as a Nymph performing a dance at the festival, making it seem to be some sort of special ritual for the Nymphs.
2. 3. **Lack of Info on Oritel and Marion -**  Ever find it strange how Daphne is more well known than her parents? You know, the founders of the Company of Light who literally battled the Ancient Witches, Valtor, and presumably Darkar as well? We know next to nothing about Daphne, how she became a nymph, why nymphs in general are so powerful, or why she has a whole goddamned temple. Yet Oritel and Marion, who fought the ancestral witches, who allied with the headmasters of the school, who are supposed to be friends with Sky’s dad (as per Magical Adventure), whose planet was destroyed sixteen years ago, are literal nobodies? Oritel has this legendary sword, yet no one besides Haugen and Faragonda knows this. According to Valtor, Oritel had extremely powerful magic. According to the Ancestral Witches themselves in SOTLK, when speaking of Oritel’s sword and the king himself they say “Behold his sword, so charged with Domino Power we can’t even touch it, let alone destroy it, that wretched sword. We failed in all our attempts to possess your father’s body. With his will alone he prevailed over the most evil warriors from every dimension, they all died at his slightest touch.” A description lacking for our powerful Supreme Nymph of Magix. Daphne has no feats, yet apparently Oritel could kill someone by barely touching them with his magic. You’d think it would be pretty hard to forget someone as badass sounding as that within less than two decades.
3. **4. Faragonda’s Lack of Knowledge -** To be honest, I think originally Faragonda wasn’t supposed to have a connection to Domino and it should’ve stayed that way, or try to make it make more sense. Faragona claims to be a member of the Company of Light belonging to Oritel and Marion, yet apparently just doesn’t tell Bloom anything about her birth family? In season one, she tries to hide Daphne’s existence from Bloom, yet were led to believe she was good friends with Daphne’s parents? If this is the case, why didn’t she try to fill the void in Bloom’s heart by telling her of her family tree, or telling her who Oritel and Marion are as people? Bloom didn’t need to be groomed by Darkar when Faragonda was right there to tell her all she needed. Why did she snub and have a rivalry with Griffin in season one if season three was just going to reveal that they’ve been ride or die friends since they were young adults and members of the company of light? It's almost as if the writers added this in with no thought onto how this would affect plot points from season 1 and 2…

I think all this points to the fact that the writers probably wanted Daphne to be Bloom’s mother and the Queen of Domino who lived in the ancient past and sent her daughter to the future to keep her safe. She was meant to be like Queen Serenity from Sailor Moon, but whether driven by fear of legal issues due to story similarities (Like what happened with W.I.T.C.H.) or simply because her being Bloom’s mom would’ve been too cliche and obvious, something made the writers want to change her into Bloom’s sister. It sucks too because then instead of focusing on Daphne, they instead stockpiled a bunch of stuff onto Oritel, Marion, and the three headmasters which only made everything we see in season 1 make less sense. I feel like this show wouldn’t have had so many issues if Oritel and Marion were Daphne’s chill and relaxed parents who let their daughter do all the fighting and they did the ruling.

I believe the theory that Daphne was supposed to be Bloom’s Mother
