Real Estate Lawyer Considering Project Management Course / PMP — Worth It?
Hi all! I’m a real estate lawyer in Ontario( Toronto) thinking about expanding my skill set into project management. I’m considering the Practical Project Management — Part 1 course through University of Toronto Continuing Education, which offers a micro-credential on completion.
My goal is to become more marketable to employers and possibly transition into a Project Lawyer role in the future. If I enjoy the course, I’m also considering pursuing the PMP certification down the line.
Questions for the community:
- Are there any Ontario lawyers (or legal professionals in Canada) who have taken a project management course or completed the PMP?
- Was it worth the time and cost for your career goals?
- Has anyone taken the U of T course specifically, or another project management course that you’d recommend (or not recommend)?
- Instead of Project Management, is there another course/ certificate program that is worth pursuing?
I’d love to hear about your experiences — especially how it impacted your work or job prospects. Thanks in advance!
