AITAH for wanting to tell people I was in the hospital?

This is a bone of contention between my husband and I and I'm honestly not sure who's in the right. It's been an issue before but never for something as big as this.

For context my husband is an extremely private person, like to the extent that his coworkers didn't even know I was pregnant until after the baby was born. IMHO he can take it too far but I try hard to respect his choices

Last week I was admitted to the hospital for a few days via the ER. It was scary because for awhile they thought it was life threatening. It wasn't (and I'm very grateful for that) and I'm home now but recovery is ongoing.

While all this was happening I wasn't exactly able to reach out to people. I assumed my husband would take care of telling our friends and family what was going on. Well, today my MIL reached out to ask me if I'd gotten test results from before I went to the hospital (we got the results while I was there). That's when it became clear my husband hadn't told anyone. And I don't just mean not sharing the gory details, I mean he didn't tell anyone ANYTHING. No one even knew I was there.

When I asked him why he said he didn't want to worry them. I get that, but it would have been nice to have the support instead of thinking no one cared enough to check in. We're now arguing about what should have been said to whom (incidentally I've reached out to my own family and friends and they now know what's going on).

I'm trying really hard to respect his choice not to tell his own family, but not to tell mine or any of our friends? I'm honestly wondering if his desire for privacy trumps mine for support. AITAH for wanting to tell people I was in the hospital?
