How to encourage 22 month old away from certain behaviours
So I have a 22 month old daughter. Shes my third child, but I didn’t really go through this with my first two so I’m unsure of what I should do.
The current thing she is doing is throwing food. For lunch today, like most days, I picked her up, she picked out the snacks she wanted to go along with her sandwich. All snacks I know she loves! I sat her in her chair and at first she was eating, peacefully. But then she started thrashing her plate all over the place. The food.went.everywhere… this has been happening for a few weeks, and I’m starting to get frustrated. I know she’s very young, and we’ve tried saying things like “no, J, we don’t throw our food, we eat it. It goes in our tummies, yum!” Or “food stays up! Not down.” While pointing at her plate. It’s not working and I don’t know what else to do. Obviously I know messes are a part of toddlerhood and that’s okay. But now I’m starting to think “okay, is this a behaviour I need to correct before it gets out of control?” Or do I just let her be and keep cleaning up food that goes all over the place multiple times a day?😓
