Where is the storyline going?
I didn’t want to give my full opinion (or any opinion) about the season before we see everything play out, but I’m genuinely confused about this episode specifically. This episode is usually the reconciliation and the calm before the actual storm — the one where you can see that something is off, but at the same time you’re watching Isak finally be in a better mental place.
Obviously, Lovro’s journey is very different, and it’s amazing to see how much he has accepted himself. I like the idea of showing realistic characters like Filip. Losing friends after coming out is very real, and them turning out to be the thing you feared the most is very painful. However, it’s tiring to see Lovro constantly suffering and things just coming his way. Yes, it’s very realistic, especially for people in homophobic countries (and it’s important to address that, don’t get me wrong), but the idea of Skam in general has always been about being realistic while also hopeful.
I think the idea of Filip being this awful, bigoted person being addressed in only one clip was enough — we got the point across. They could have easily merged the two clips about him into one. I don’t know how much is left for the rest of the episode, but at this point we should have gotten more with Ivan, especially to see his struggles. Using social media is cool, but it should go hand in hand with what happens in the clips as well, and we don’t have anything about him yet.
I really wish we could get a nice, happy clip (or even clips) of Lovro and Ivan before the actual ending. It’s surprising how much they have toned down the relationship in this particular episode. I understood the context in the previous ones, but in this one, not really.
