Hello!

A couple years ago I was going through my late uncle Brent’s things and came across magazine called Modern Ferret in a dresser drawer and put it in the books/magazines box. Brent was an ASPCA rescue driver for 15 years and a lifelong animal rights activist and his brother Bruce, who died in 2012, was a ferret owner/enthusiast and the issue of Modern Ferret I found was originally his.

A year later I was going thru the boxes of Brent’s things again and started paging through that issue of Modern Ferret for my first time and out of the corner of my eye noticed a “Sammy & Susie” in the Pink Noses™️ section (reader-submitted photos of their ferrets), the names of Bruce’s ferrets.

Anyway long story short this is one of the greatest magazines of all time. I’m not a ferret owner myself but I adore them and for the past few years have been doing volunteer archival work, preserving weird/niche books/magazines from going extinct. I wanted to read more issues of Modern Ferret but couldn’t find a single issue available online anywhere.

As a tribute to Bruce and Brent, I thought I’d make a project of preserving Modern Ferret. I’ve since acquired six more issues, and all of them are now available on Internet Archive, which you can read by clicking this link.
