[Complete] [71k] [Romantic Women's Fiction] DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW?

70k

Looking for beta readers for my manuscript, which is a new take on Mamma Mia, set on an island that's The Hamptons meets Stars Hollow.

Happy to swap, hopefully for a romance/women's fic/something similar but open to general fiction as well :)

The pitch:

Max Wellington hasn’t been back to Grenby Island, the once-famous summer home of rock and roll’s most notable, in almost a decade. When her family calls to tell her their bakery is in dire financial straits, she puts all of her insecurities about returning home aside and steels herself to face everything and everyone she’s left behind, including the music career she abandoned just as it began. But, it turns out, the bakery is thriving. Max’s family has actually called her back home because the reunion concert of A Chorus Line her dad will soon perform in will feature three women he slept with the summer before she was born. And one of those women, they tell her for the first time, left baby Max on the bakery’s porch nine months later, never to be heard from again.

What’s more, Max can’t stop running into Leo Davenport. Most of the world knows him as Badruka, a DJ-turned-producer at the top of the music industry. Max knows him as her top childhood annoyance who no one ever thought would stop pulling childish pranks long enough to amount to much of anything. But a new Leo is here with her for the summer. He welcomes her into his own group of fun-loving musician and writer friends who see Grenby as a haven, not a place to escape from. And he’s more in tune with himself and his attraction to Max than she ever would have ever expected.

With Leo’s help, Max inches towards finding out who left her on Grenby all those years ago and rediscovers her love for playing in a rock band. Suddenly, she’s faced with confronting her mother and the opportunity to pick up her abandoned music career all in the same celebratory midsummer weekend. In facing her past and future all at once, Max must examine why she’s denied herself her passion for so many years and decide whether or not she can work past her old ideas of who she is and what makes her happy – and if Leo factors into the future she wants for herself.
