Removing baseball sized lipoma on 9YOA German Shepherd

A large fatty cyst was found near my nine year old dog’s right arm/ chest area. It has been tested and ruled out cancerous. She is perfectly herself, healthy and not in pain. The veterinarian is adamant I should get surgery for $2,000 so it does not grow bigger an cause discomfort. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Obviously, if she was in pain and it was affecting her day to day life, I wouldn’t hesitate. But, putting an older dog under and having to deal with such a mobile spot scares me. You cannot see it with the naked eye either.
