Help with pumping at work
Hi, I sadly started back at work yesterday and have some questions and logistics about supply. My baby is 12 weeks and exclusively breast fed. We dealt with bottle refusal starting at 4 weeks until about 10 weeks, but thank goodness she is now taking them. Because of that, all her meals have been straight from the breast other than one bottle a day starting around week 10.
When I’m at work, she has been taking 3-4 ounces 3 times for a total of 10 ounces. I pump three times at work at about the same times that she’s eating at home, but only get 8 ounces. It’s not a problem to pump once after she goes to bed to get the rest of what she needs for the next day, but I am concerned about my supply during the day.
I feel engorged throughout the day now since I’m clearly not emptying as much as I did before.
Should I be pumping more often at work? I’d prefer not to because it would mean staying slightly longer.
I know that pumps are less efficient than babies, so does this sound normal? Should I get my nipples sized again to check? My pump parts are new.
Any advice or suggestions or reassurance would be great. Thank you!
