Breaking Strings at the tuners on a 2x2 Danelectro headstock.

Hi everyone, I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar problem with breaking string right where they meet the tuners, I've only broken two strings, E and G, but I'd like to solve this before it gets any more expensive to deal with lol. The only thing I could really find is a suggestion on an old forum about binding at the nut, causing the increase in tension to only pull between the tuner and the nut, and not down the length of the string. Being a dano, it has an aluminum nut, and Idk if that would make that more or less of an issue. If you have any ideas or have had similar issues that you were able to fix, please let me know. One other thing of note, mine is a '59 vintage reissue, so I have to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod, and both times have been tuning up after an adjustment.
