Hotel Luigi: The 7 Other Koopa Hotels: A Sickening Hotel Mario Mod

Hotel Mario is my biggest guilty gaming pleasure of all time. My favourite part of the game would be the animated cutscenes. The way they're animated would be what a Mario cartoon series would be like. But then again it's not like we didn't got any Mario cartoons before.

I've always tried to mod or find mods of the game. Replacing sprites, Making new levels, etc. One day, I made a post on some Mario modding forum looking for people to mod the game. It gone like this. "I'm looking for somebody who could decompile and/or mod hotel mario. If anyone wants to contact me, here's my discord. *link to discord*". I made this post at 11:45PM so after I made that post, I gone to sleep.

At the morning, I gone to my computer and checked on my post, Then I found a message. It was from a user named "Xx_Mardy_Modz_xX". Lets just call him Mardy for short. This is what he wrote. "so you want a mod huh? well I've been working on a mod for the game for a while now. it was hard to do so but i did it. just sent a friend request. my discord's MardyModz7" I went to discord and accepted his friend request. Immediately, I got a message from him. I went my DMs and saw message. It was a link to the mod like he said. Along with a message that said "Here's the mod, it's unfinished so there may be some bugs, It's called Hotel Luigi: The 7 Other Koopa Hotels btw." I clicked on the link, downloaded the mod, and put it onto my Hotel Mario rom. I open up my CD-I emulator to play my now modded rom.

The game started with a new, modded in cutscene, It was animated in a way that was completely one to one to the actual cutscenes in the game, But the voice acting was just sentence mixing. Luigi was sitting on a picnic while eating Losta spaghetti. Then, a letter fallen down to the ground. Luigi said "What was that?". Luigi walked to the letter and picked it up. "It's from Bowser!" Said Luigi. Luigi read the letter. This is what he read. "Dear Luigi, The Koopalings and I stolen Peach and Mario and taken over the mushroom kingdom. They are now my permanent guest at my new 7 Koopa Hotels. Try defeating me now when there's only one of you!" Luigi then said "I Gotta save Mario and The Princess, and you Gotta help me!" it then cut to the title screen. The logo's title said "Hotel Luigi: The 7 Other Koopa Hotels" like what Mardy said in the message. I pressed the start button and then it cut to another cutscene.

Luigi gone to one of the New Koopa Hotels. It was a big pipe with a big sign on it that said "Larry's Pipin' Peppers Lunacy Hotel" on it. Luigi said "This must be one of them. My first solo mission, Here I go, Mario and Peach." He then jumped into the pipe and then the level started. Usually It would start with a timecard of some sort, But it just sent me straight into the level, I thought that was funny, But I scoffed it off, Thinking it was a bug and all, Mardy did say were bugs after all. It was laid out like the Mario Bros Arcade level layout, Luigi's Sprites were just Mario's but green, There were 2 new enemies, Shy Guys, and Buzzy Beetles and the background was the inside of the green pipe. The level was easy to beat, being that there was only 5 doors to close. After beating it, It immediately cut to the next cutscene. No animation of the character doing a dance and flying into the air, No stage completion screen, Just immediately cuts to the next cutscene. I founded this completely weird because That doesn't usually happen when you beat a level in the original game. But I just ignored it and caried on, Assuming, Again, it was one of the bugs that Mardy was talking about in the message he sent me.

Luigi jumps out of the pipe hotel and says "Well that gone out better as I expected." Then it cuts to Luigi a slightly transparent, completely dark Mario. "Mario?" Said Luigi. The completely black Mario just fades away. Luigi then see's Another Hotel that is off screen. Luigi points at it and says "Over There!" The Hotel appeared, Except it was an actual picture of a dug up hole. It showed this for 5 seconds and then Imminently cut to the level. I thought to myself "Why the hell is this here? Why would this be in a Mario Mod?" I was getting weirded out by this but decided to keep going, Despite the weird vibe I was having while playing it.

The Level was just a Dark, Dirty themed Hotel. With a Old, Dirty, Wooden background, Like a coffin. There was no enemies for some reason and there was only 5 Doors like in the Last Level. After closing the last door. The screen spontaneously cut to black. I was confused, But then I heard running foot steps, After that I heard a knife swing, After that I heard the blood curdling scream of a woman, The entire audio just snapped and cracked. It all went back to silence after that. I was jumped out of my skin. Now I knew that something messed up was going on in this thing. What the hell was that?! What happened to that Woman?! Why would this be in a Mod for a Mario Game?! I almost turned the game off, but my sick curiosity got the better of me and I kept going.

The Level was now a empty side scrolling level where you just walked to the right. I was walking for 30 seconds. Then, I found a list of full names. They were in a row of 3, There were 33 names and were in the comic sans font for some reason. They even had my grandmother's name. My Grandmother died in a brutal stabbing incident 3 Months ago from when I was playing this. I grieved when I first heard the news and so did my Mother. When I saw this, I was more weirded and freaked out than I already was. How did they knew my grandma's name?!, Why did they knew my grandma's name?! I just walked along, I just want to beat this game and forget this ever happened. 10 more seconds of walking after that, I found the same slightly transparent dark Mario from previously, just now in sprite from. I walked towards him. when I touched him, a cutscene played out.

The Dark Mario faded into the Actual Mario, Luigi was shocked and said "Mario! Is that you?!". Mario responded with "I'm not Mario. I am you end, Luigi.". Mario's voice was actually Voice acted instead of sentence mixing like Luigi's voice. Luigi acted confused and said "Mario? What are you talking about? I'm here to save you.". When I heard this, I thought to myself "What did he meant by this?". Luigi looked around and said "Where's peach?". Assumingly Mario responded with "Look behind you, Luigi.". Luigi looked behind him and jumped in shock at the sight of Peach's mangled corpse. Half of her face was chomped off, Her dress was covered in her blood, She was missing both of her arms and her organs were hanging out of her stomach. This was drawn in a extremely detailed way. Like it was an actual dead body. I was an inch close from passing out in disgust and shock from the imagery at this point. Luigi had a shocked and terrified look in his face, With tears dripping out of his eyes. Assumingly Mario said "Quite the sight, Isn't it Luigi?" Luigi looked behind him and saw Mario warping and transforming into something, He's body got skinner, His eyes got more bloodshot, His pupils got pure white. His teeth got more sharper and yellower, His fingers got longer and sharper and his skin gotten more pale. When transforming into this thing, He said "Remember Luigi, When There's Smoke, I̵̙̦̮͔͓̬͖̙̿̀̒͐͂̂̅̓̽̏̿͜͝ͅ ̶̨̢̩̩̭̠̗͛̀̆̕P̶̨͈͉͕̩̤̥͆̏̒̇̃̃Ĭ̸̙̬̦̭͎͌̆͌N̸͓̝̫̱̬̳̾C̸̼̓͋̐͒͌̽̀͑̂̑̃̎͘͝H̴̡̢͕̾̀͛̎̀̍͋̽̚͠ ̷̧͇̖̭͔̣͚̠̅̑͛͜B̷̢̧̢͔͈̹̺̻̠̗̬͎̭̒͆͐͑̈́͐̒̏̉̿̎͋̀Á̶̳̍̿̊͋͛͑̅̌͘͠C̸̡̟̬̮͍͋̀͊́́́͌̆̍̄̄͜Ķ̵̡̣̟͔͈̖͈̲̤̞̖͂̒͛̉ͅ!̵̞̝̥͖̹̱̄̏͌̋̋̄͊̈́̍̽̍̔̕͠͠ͅ". That wasn't Mario, He was a Blood Tristy Monster that murdered peach. Then all of the sudden, This Monster grabbed Luigi and torn him apart, Limb by Limb. He gutted Luigi, and chomped off his head. Like peach's dead body, It was drawn in a way that made it look real. Luigi screamed in a horrifyingly brutal way, It sounded like a Real Human Being was actually being murdered in a painful way. After I saw this godforsken horror behold before me, I fallen off my chair and passed out.

After I've lost consitenceness, I woken up on the floor of my bedroom. I saw that my computer was on. They CD-I emulator shown an Image of a completely Whitten Luigi behind a black background. I closed my emulator and gone onto Reddit like I always do. I gone onto r/Mario and scroll down to the latest posts. Then, I saw a post that said "(TW: MURDER) Someone was going on Mario Modding Forums to get their IPs." The reddit post explain that somebody was going onto Mario Modding Forums looking for people looking for mods. Then they would message on there post about how they have a mod they can play. Then, they go into their DMs and give them a link to a "Mod", Speffically One their looking for. The "Mod" would incould gursome imagery of gore, names of their victims, and audio of their murders. The "Mod" would also have Malware in it that can grab somebody's IP and Home Address, So they can hunt down and kill them. During their last attempt, They got arrested and is now in court. As I read this, I remember playing a Mod last night that contain things like that, And then, It all hit me.

The person that the post was talking about, It was Mardy, Mardy was finding people on forum so they can find and kill them. That list of names, Those weren't random names, They were his victims. The dug up hole, That could be him burring a body, That audio of a woman screaming, That was him killing somebody. I read further and It also said that he ran a Scam Heater Fixing Business where he would call up old people to do the same thing.

That sick bastard Mardy killed my grandma and then tried to kill me.

I COULD'VE DIED BECAUSE I DOWNLOADED A MARIO MOD!

All of that was Months ago now. I've gone to the same therapist my mom did to recover form my truama from that incident. I heard that Mardy was sentence to Life in prison. Honestly good riddance, I don't want that monster harming anyone ever again. Moral of the story, Don't trust random strangers giving out mods online, Because they could grab your IP.
