Anyone else been completely lost trying to follow the news here?

Right… hold onto your hats people… I've started doing a daily news briefing for this island, with the goal of making it entertaining, because the local papers are all in Spanish, and let's be honest, by the time Google Translate has finished with them, you've read three paragraphs about another municipal paving plan and totally lost the will to live.

It gets boring, fast.

Now don't get me wrong, this is real news. Properly researched, properly sourced, and translated from Spanish every single day.

Today we've had school buses running without brakes. A shiny new medical helicopter that will genuinely save lives arriving next month. And a piece of this island's deepest darkest history finally being recognised by the Spanish government.

But thats not all.

I find actual things that might actually matter to the people who actually live here, or maybe interest the latest wave of slightly confused holiday makers.

I'm a local of 22 years who loves this place, has had waaaay too much coffee, and cannot believe we might be about to be ravaged by a swarm of hungry locusts... again. 2004 was a wild year for the island.

The fish had an absolute feast... as did the swarm.

Every morning I go through every local news source about the island, find the stories that matter, and post them throughout the day in pure English with a splash of humor thrown in, one story at a time.

Search Only In Fuerteventura on Facebook and give us a follow.

Special thanks to the mods for allowing this post. Tomorrow's first coffee will be sacrificed entirely in your honour. You have no idea what you've unleashed hahahahaaaa.

Seriously though… thank you.
