I’m no longer considering Lucid for my future purchase. But I’m wishing the brand tons of luck and hoping to reconsider down the road!
Sadly, I’ve gotten cold feet and really don’t have much confidence in Lucid for my upcoming vehicle purchase.
I like Lucid and I love the Gravity. It’s a fantastic vehicle. It’s spacious, well thought out, luxurious, and honestly 95% of what I’m looking for in a vehicle.
But I can’t get past the constant thought that it feels like I would be purchasing a $100k Kickstarter vehicle. Lucid would not be around today if it wasn’t for the Saudi’s; a foreign country keeping them afloat in the US. The company is not doing great and has not been doing great for quite awhile now. I know they have “billions” in funds; I get that. But that doesn’t mean the company is healthy and it also is not exactly confidence inspiring.
The final blow was this week not only seeing the 12% layoffs but that they did not even meet their lower revised sales goal of 18,000 for 2025. And they somehow say they have a mid-sized vehicle coming out “soon”? That’s… very strange to me. 🤔
I’m not bashing the company or the product at all. I think the Gravity is an amazing engineering focused vehicle. Lucid’s motor and battery tech is top notch! I’m wishing the company and current owners all the best; maybe I’ll add Lucid to my list in a few years!
