Valencia vs Barcelona for living 3months?

Hi! I’m planning to live in Spain for about 3 months.

I’ve been living in Berlin for the past few years and want to experience Spain before deciding where to stay longer.

I first chose Valencia because it seemed cheaper and calmer. But while searching for rooms, I noticed prices are not that low, and in Barcelona it feels easier to find more options and places that match my style for a similar price. (I’ll live in a shared apartment)

At the same time, I’m looking for somewhere that feels calm and safe as a foreigner (I’m an Asian woman).

I’ve done a lot of research and thought about it a lot, but I’ve never been to either city, so it’s hard to know :(

Which city would you recommend for a 3month stay?
