varmant rifle should be 22lr

hello all. everytime I play fallout New Vegas I'm astounded by how little the varmant rifle does despite it being chambered in 5.56. from both a realism and gameplay standpoint this doesn't make sense. sure 5.56 isn't .308 by any means but it's a rifle cartridge. I think it would be cool to have the varmant rifle and it's variants be 22lr. I think this would make more sense for realism and would also make the varmant rifle and this rat slayer more viable for early game as you could get 22lr plinking boxes for incredibly cheap and won't run out of ammo. idk tho thoughts?
