Matrix Metering or Highlight Weighted Metering?

Wondering who else has tried Highlight Weighted metering? I've recently discovered this metering mode and used it a lot since I have a bad habit of blowing out my highlights on landscape shots. I've as actually grown to really love this metering mode, again primarily for landscape. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this mode and have any opinions on it as a tool vs using matrix Metering with exposure compensation to help tame bright skies for example?
