Chance me for NYU, BU, Columbia and Northwestern plsss

Got some updates, so Imma post again

Target Schools/Majors:
NYU CAS (Joint Econ & Math), Columbia College (Joint Econ & Math, Northwestern (Econ), Boston U (Joint Econ & Math)

Current School / Status:
Binghamton University with 10k per year, first-year, applying as a sophomore transfer (Fall 2026)

Background:
Hong Kong–raised, U.S. citizen. DSE curriculum, mostly B-range in high school, rejected by 14+ schools last cycle (including Penn State). Now full-pay.

Struggling with suburb/rural environment here, seeking transfer to big cities colleges

College GPA & Credits:

  • GPA: 3.93 (Fall, 18 credits)
  • Major GPA (Math/Econ): 4.0
  • By application: 35 credits (18 completed, rest in progress)

College Coursework (selected):

  • Completed: Calc I, Macroeconomics, Intro to Coding (Python), Intro to World Politics, Orchestra, Cello
  • In progress: Linear Algebra, Calc 2, Microeconomics, Academic Writing, Orchestra (On track to get at least 3.9)

Tests:

  • SAT 1440 (EW 650, Math 790) Applied TO for Columbia.
  • TOEFL 101

Honors (selected):

  • HK Economics Olympiad: Business Case Study Champion (~100 teams)
  • HK Economics Olympiad: Individual Silver (Top 20%)
  • ABRSM Cello Grade 8 (Merit)
  • Multiple HK orchestral awards

Key Extracurriculars:

  • Co-founder & Principal Cellist, 60+ member youth orchestra in Hong Kong (budgeting, ticket pricing, 400+ audience)
  • HS Symphony Orchestra Chairman & Principal Cellist
  • Binghamton U Symphony Orchestra (current)
  • Exec roles in school music association & economics society
  • Accounting/finance internship at jewelry company
  • Charity bazaar organizing committee (logistics, running booths)

Academic/Narrative Angle:
Interested in where economic efficiency conflicts with civil rights and policy (e.g., orchestra ticket pricing vs. access, Econ Olympiad case on data/privacy); seeking integrated economy programs.

Essays: I would say they are pretty solid, added highly specific details with an authentic and vivid story as a hook.

Recs:

  • Macro professor (probably mid)
  • Writing instructor (close relationship, knew my struggle as a non-native, and had the courage to overcome the environment here)
  • Cello professor (great relationship)

I believe the weakness of my profile is a lack of college EC & a bad HS record
Thank you in advance!! I really wanna get into NYU.
