Got no interview calls yet, does that mean there's no hope?

I applied to 17 universities in USA. Got rejected by 7 out of these 17. But I donno what to expect from the others. I did not get any call for interviews from the remaining universities. I'm preparing myself mentally to get rejected from the rest as well. But what does this silence mean? Am I rejected for sure, or is there still hope?

Most of the universities I applied to had deadlines on 15 December.
