Last minute questions before tiling shower curb
Been working on this project for a while. It's my first tiling DIY.
My outside shower curb area is now basically ready for tiling (see photo below).
I removed all the wooden baseboards in the entire bathroom yesterday (I'll replace with tile). The removal was much easier than I anticipated. I patched the nail holes with thinset.
However, after carefully scraping off the caulking that held the wooden baseboards and sanding, it looks like I'm going to need to apply some joint compound and sanding to remove the baseboard line from the wall. I guess this means that I have to also prime and paint over the baseboard line before tiling?
The 4-inch tiles I plan to install will be shorter than the baseboard line, even when I allow for the grout space. There's a 3/4" space when a tile is sitting on the floor (see photo below). Will the Jolly Schluter trim that I plan to use on top of the tiles make a big difference? I doubt it.
How far up should I lift the tile from the floor?
