Fitness for disability/hypermobility?
I am looking for a personal trainer, fitness instructor, some kind of fitness professional who has specific experience with disability, hypermobility, non-normative anatomy, etc. I am open to any kind of movement as long as the instructor/trainer has specific experience in this area.
I am hypermobile and have flat feet, and I've slowly come to realize that my extreme clumsiness and various forms of chronic pain are due in large part to my body mechanics being utterly fucked. I've struggled a lot to find a sustainable exercise routine that makes an impact. I worked out with a trainer for much of last year and she was great - super smart, very attentive and thoughtful - but I felt like she was constantly surprised by the depth of mechanical pathology I bring to the table. I really want to work with someone who can help me build a sustainable fitness routine that takes my particular challenges into account and who is truly prepared for a regular-looking body that works real, real bad.
I'm in Prospect Heights and I work in eastern Queens so there are a lot of places I can go that are reasonably convenient. I also have a car so could theoretically go farther afield on the weekends.
I know this is a really niche question and I appreciate any recommendations anyone has.
