Plastic tile spacers? Waste of time or a good investment?

I've got a bunch of tiles and will need a 1/8" gap in between for grouting. I see they sell 1/8" plastic tile spacers... it makes sense but also seems overkill. Anyone use them? Or should I just eyeball the gap widths?
