External irritation to monistat

I currently have a yeast infection, nothing I haven’t felt before and I’m on day 2 of the 7 day miconazole treatment. It doesnt burn or itch internally, but I wake up in the middle of the night when the cream starts melting(?) and leaking out. It’s super itchy and irritating on the external skin. Once I wash it off, it completely stops. This also happens as it comes out throughout the day and then stops when I wipe it away. Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice? I can already feel the general symptoms of the YI going away, and I want to stick with the whole 7-day treatment - this just sucks.
