On H1B, bought a house 2 years ago - feeling worried in this job market

Hi everyone,

I’m on an H1B visa and bought a house about 2 years ago. The house hasn’t gone up much in value. A nearby house in the same community has been on the market for a few months now and didn’t sell even after the price was reduced multiple times.

With the current job market, I’m feeling a bit nervous. If I lose my job, the 60-day grace period doesn’t give much time, and having a mortgage makes it more stressful.

For others on H1B who own homes:

Are you just staying put and hoping things stay stable?

Are you thinking about selling?

Would you sell the house now even if it means taking a loss?

I’d really like to hear how others are handling this. Thanks.
