Stressed out!
Hi all,
Sorry for the long post.
I started as a sub para, because I am new to education, and I did not want to regret of going full time. As soon I started I liked the work and shortly I was hired full time.
I am an inclusion para, basically a mainstream para for assisting the inclusion kids in a general ed classroom. Everything was fine until they moved me to a classroom with a kid in a wheelchair. His para was on a break, and I was asked to cover her because when I was subbing, I have subbed for her a lot of times, and that kid was comfortable with me.
The kid is non verbal. Last time when he had to do the iready testing, his parents asked me to keep an eye on him, because he tends to answer the questions without reading them. So I made sure he is reading every single word of the question and answer before submitting. He scored very high marks and he was awarded too.
Now his para is back from break, and he started the testing yesterday. Today his para was on leave and I covered her. He did the remaining testing today and scored less marks compared to the last one.
The kid, and the teacher was very upset about it. Even the teachers had a meeting after this. Now they are asking him to retake the test again tomorrow. And his parents are not ok about this.
Now my question is will I be put in trouble for making him score big last time? I am so worried about this. And I am not able to focus on anything.
Thanks for reading!!
