Most “acne-safe” products aren’t actually acne-safe.

Skincare

Okay I might get downvoted for this… but hear me out.

I keep seeing products marketed as:

“Non-comedogenic.”

“Dermatologist tested.”

“Acne-friendly.”

But when I check the ingredient list, there are still fatty esters, certain emollients, fragrance, or heavy occlusives that can clog pores or trigger breakouts (and definitely don’t work for fungal acne).

Are these labels just marketing at this point?

Do brands rely on the fact that most people won’t read the INCI list? Or am I being too skeptical?

Would love to know:

• Do you trust “non-comedogenic” claims?

• Have you broken out from something that was marketed as acne-safe?

• Are ingredient checkers reliable or overhyped?
