Forgiving

I’ve forgiven you

Not because you deserve it

Not because I’m strong

But because I’m weak

I relinquished that pain to Allah ‘azza wa-jall

And rested my burdens with him

I look back at that life with the detached lens of time and distance

You no longer stir my heart to suffering

Now these thoughts look more like still life tapestries

Something that some artist displayed

For others to project their own meaning
